Monday Musings 16/08
3 Positive things that I've enjoyed or thought about this week. Anything from, nutrition to interesting podcasts, books, a quote that resonated with me or productivity tips. Sometimes just my general musings and thoughts I've had that week..
1.) 'Dolce Far Niente'
The joy of doing nothing. This is one of many beautiful phrases and practices of Italian culture which makes the Italophile in me so deeply happy. I should inclose, I am currently living in Italy before returning to London to complete my studies, and learning so much more about this beautiful culture. This is a particular favourite of mine as I feel it's something we're missing in British culture.
Dolce Far Niente is a special phrase as really, its hard to directly translate to English, it is so much more than just doing nothing and enjoying it. It is a practise that comes to Italian's easily as they have a special way of being in the moment and enjoying the small pleasures in life. It is a moment of stillness, of being, of complete bliss where the world slows down and you feel deep peacefulness in doing nothing.
It is more than just a break from work, or a 'sit down', it is something that's celebrated and treasured. A little bit of Dolce Far Niente would go such a long way in improving the wellbeing and gratitude of life for everyone.
Try incorporating Dolce Far Niente in your week this week!
2.) Brianna Wiest Quote -
"No more idling - a life is to be lived"
3.) The Food Medic Podcast - Episode 3 of Season Six. Burnout with Amelia Nagoski
This is a little bit of a two in one, this podcast is an interview with the co-author, Amelia Nagoski of the book, Burnout - Solving the Stress Cycle. This book is also amazing and if you relate to this podcast I would drive reading the book also. It is such an important conversation especially when burnout is on the rise after the pandemic.
